I'd say the star office wasn't properly installed, if you can't even double-click on a star-office file. Possibly you've just copied the executable files to your PC rather than use the installer. And if it isn't registered you have no way of determining the location where it is installed anyway.

Resolve that issue before wasting more of your time ;-)
